Purpose: This procedure provides the information necessary to carry out in-service safety inspection and testing of equipment that is designed for connection by flexible power supply cord and plug to low voltage supply - other than fixed installations.
It also applies to cord extension sets, electrical portable outlet devices, cord connected residual current devices and portable isolation transformers.
Large stationary equipment such as wall mounted air conditioners and fridges connected by a flexible cord which are not subject to flexing during normal use and not exposed to abuse or damage of a mobile environment, are often not subject to in service safety inspection and testing. However, due to the temporary nature of Redpath installations, they are to be included.
